Why do women help women in poverty?

This graduate is on the road to becoming a nurse!

Why do women help women in poverty? Because of success stories like Esther.

Esther came to the United States from Nigeria in 2000. She worked in various jobs, but lacked the computer skills necessary for higher paying positions. She was uncertain about what she needed to do to get a better job. She prayed for God to lead her to a place that would help her improve her life.

Esther heard about CWJC of Middle Tennessee through a Toy Store she went to one Christmas to help get presents for her family. When she was told about CWJC’s computer classes and job skills training program, she believed this was an answer to her prayers and registered for classes.

Through CWJC, Esther improved her typing and computer skills and strengthened her relationship with Christ. “CWJC increased my faith in God and challenged me to strive for a holy life in Christ,” she said. “CWJC increased my knowledge of the Word of God and encouraged a deeper prayer life – as well as help me get valuable skills for better employment.”

The CWJC volunteers also ministered to Esther’s husband and their four children – two sets of twins! The children were loved and taught the truths of God’s Word through the child care provided at the CWJC site.

Esther is now attending college and dreams of becoming a registered nurse. Thanks to CWJC volunteers, Esther and her family are successfully emerging from poverty into a life of stability and hope.
