Free Make-overs!

Salon YaYa

Salon YaYa, voted #3 salon in Nashville by the Nashville Scene readers poll, and owner Marilyn Lipsey created a memorable Valentines Day for the ladies of the Nashville site. Fourteen women received free make-overs including hair conditioning, color, and cuts as well as lessons in make-up application and styling. Partnering with Salon YaYa was Apropos Advanced Skin Care and Day Spa; there the ladies were given the choice of a free massage or facial. Lipsey felt that the makeovers would help facilitate a sense of self worth in the women, and would fit well with the CWJC mission of preparing women for life and work. “There’s nothing like a new makeover when you are preparing to go in for a big job interview,” said satellite coordinator Amanda Opelt.

“Carla” couldn’t stop smiling in class the day after her make over. With a new cut and color, her confidence had blossomed overnight. She said she walked into work with a new confidence. “It’s just so professional!”  she said. That confidence gave her the courage to request more hours at work from her boss so that she might be able to better provide for herself. Since then she’s been given a promotion. Her eyes filled with tears when she spoke about Salon YaYa and the community of CWJC, saying she just wasn’t used to people caring so much about her.

Thanks to Marilyn Lipsey and all the professionals at Salon YaYa and Apropos for serving the ladies of CWJC!
