About

“Jesus said, I am the light of the world, whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)

In 1997 CWJC of Middle TN was formed to provide a faith based educational program and life changing community to individuals living on salaries below living wage. Our vision was to provide individuals educational classes, community resources, and a mentor to journey with them to a brighter future. Our holistic program, at no cost to the student, provides an individual the support and knowledge to change their circumstances and their lives.

When individuals first contact CWJC they are seeking skills, ability and support to overcome or remove obstacle or circumstance which are barriers to their goals. At CWJC of Middle TN they find small classes of 8-10 student led by volunteers eager to teach and make a personal investment of time. Each student is matched with a Mentor who provides support, encouragement, and accountability. A community and staff are available to journey with each student for a one to two year period or until she reaches her goals.

CWJC serves the Middle TN area through three locations in Nashville, Madison, and Franklin, TN. The program provides three curriculum tracks for students: GED test preparation, Life and Job Skills (classes include job search, resume preparation, computer classes, goal setting, and financial skills) and Conversational English Classes.

CWJC’s program and services address the underlying issues blocking a person from reaching their personal, educational, and employment goals. The staff and volunteers join the student as they experience the dawning of new ideas in their approach to life and toward the possibility of a different future.

The program receives applicants by referral from local community agencies, churches, and individuals.  Potential students must complete an application form and be interviewed before being accepted into CWJC.
